Creating a Friendly Work Environment With Employee Recognition Programs

People like to work in a friendly environment. No one wants to dread going to work every day because they can't stand where they work and the type of environment they work in. The more your employees want to work, the more efficient they become - and that means more success for your business. One way to create a friendly and inviting work environment is with employee recognition programs. There are plenty of different ways that you can recognize your employees. Here are just some ideas to get you started.

Set up an attendance reward program for your employees.

The more your employees come to work, the more productive your business is. You can have the program be a yearly thing or have one run each quarter. Set aside a certain bonus amount for each employee. Be sure that the amount is a pretty decent amount such as $100 for each quarter or at least $250 for a year. Then as time goes on, depending on the employee's attendance, they can lose money from that account. There is no way to gain more money, but if they have perfect attendance, they will receive the full amount at the end of the program. An example would be, if an employee called in and said they are going to be late, they would lose $10. If an employee is late and does not call, they lose $15 for each time. If an employee does not show up at work at all and does not call, they would lose $50. At the end of the program, they get whatever balance is left in the account.

Publicly recognize employees when it is their birthday.

Buy gifts for employees when it is their birthday. Get a cake and celebrate their birthday at the office. This is a nice way to recognize your staff one at a time and this shows that you actually care about each one as a person and not just as a name on the payroll.

Hand out bonus checks when an employee has a good annual review.

If an employee has worked hard and succeeded at their job, then give them a little extra bonus. This should be on top of a regular salary raise. You can decide how much to give, but a good idea would be to reward them for each year of service that they have given your business. This also helps to reduce employee turnover at your business and encourages people to stay longer at your company. You could offer them $100 for each year of service they have given you. So, if someone has 8 years in at your company and gets an excellent annual review, you can reward them with a bonus check of $800.

If you give out business gifts to clients and customers for the holidays, then why not hand out gifts to your employees as well? It could be in the form of a bonus check, a gift card, or even an extra paid day off during the year. If you have a smaller business and you know your employees fairly well, then you could buy personalized gifts for each of them. Employee recognition programs are a great way to encourage and motivate your staff and keep a friendly environment for all. The more that your employees enjoy their work environment, the better off your business is in the end.
